Features... On Friday May 17, 2013 Sixty Sysco Baltimore associate volunteers,
along with actor Gary Sinise and Chef Robert Irvine, today are serving
more than 7,000 soldiers, family members and healthcare providers at a
Wounded Warrior Appreciation Event at Walter Reed Military
Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Sysco built a unique, on-site kitchen
to serve from the facility’s helipad. Big thanks to our supplier
partners from Tyson, CAB, Alpha Baking, Heinz, Pactiv and Sara Lee for
their contributions, which includes ingredients for 4,000 hamburgers,
3,000 chicken sandwiches and 3,000 hot dogs - plus sides and desserts.
They arrived Thursday on a pair of packed Sysco trucks holding 1,200
cases each.
