In 1987, Bill opened his first restaurant on Harford Road, in Baltimore County. His expectations of this little 44 seat bar and grill was to do about 400,000 dollars annually. Not only did he achieve his goals in his second year of business Bill grossed 1.1 million dollars, and he was off and running. His main goal was to have a neighborhood restaurant that served generous portions at a fair price. Since 1987, Bill has expanded his operations through the state of Maryland, into Pennsylvania with 17 locations. Bill is very active in all of the food preparation and menu items. He is constantly changing his menu regularly to keep up with the times. Bill’s main philosophy is the customers’ have to feel at home. Everything is important, but it’s the little things that matter. Currently, Bill is averaging up to 80,000 lbs of chicken wings in a month. Another staggering figure is that last year alone, Bill served approximately 550,000 lbs of French fries. Bateman’s makes all their soups and sauces from scratch, and serves certified Angus beef for his burgers. He uses the highest quality chicken available and he also promises friendly and courteous service. He also has expanded his famous wing and barbeque sauce to national retail super-market chains. Bill is also famous for the best happy hours in town. Most of his locations have dozens of TV’s available to watch all major sporting events. He runs such specials, as a weekly 10 dollar crab cake, or all you can eat wings for under 10 dollars. He also has a 5 dollar bar menu for lunch and dinner. All of his portions are huge, and fairly priced. His slogan says it all, “Come for the food, stay for the fun.” |
